STEM Portfolios
The STEMpathize Outreach Team Portfolios are projects planned and executed by Outreach Team Interns to realize STEMpathize’s mission statement even when school isn’t in-session. Ranging from research competitions to astronomy nights, Outreach Team Portfolios not only strengthen networking and leadership skills within our interns, but also encourage student participants globally to find STEM in the everyday, whether that be at home, in another country, or even in the sky.
STEMpathize Saturday Workshops:
From May to August 2024, STEMpathize is hosting free virtual STEMpathize Saturday Workshops for students in Grades 3 to 8! During this season’s workshop series, our elementary school students will explore an Introduction to Biology, and our middle school students will venture into an Introduction to Computer Science!
Each workshop series teaches these concepts through interactive and collaborative experiments! Because our workshops build off of the knowledge that students learn the week prior, students will find a more enriching and advanced experience the longer they participate in the series. However, students are not required to participate for the entire 3-month period.
If you are interested or would like more information, visit our registration form: http://tinyurl.com/stempathizesummer2024. And it’s completely free!
Compete in STEM with STEMpathize: STEMletics and STEMventure
Interested in exploring STEM further? This summer, STEMpathize is introducing our first series of STEM competitions, STEMletics and STEMventure, in which a select few winners are recognized for their excellence with a gift card of choice and official certificates administered by STEMpathize. Learn more below.
STEMletics:
STEMpathize is hosting a research competition, called STEMletics, focused on applying STEM to athletics. We encourage middle school students to explore the fascinating world where science, technology, engineering, and mathematics revolutionize how we play, compete, and enjoy sports. Research papers should propose and explore ideas that enhance performance, safety, and overall sports enjoyment. Whether it's biomechanics, data analytics, materials science, or any other STEM field, we want to hear your creative solutions.
The competition will span two rounds, each of which will be judged using a standardized rubric, with the first round consisting of a research paper and the second round including a presentation on how your idea may be implemented. Students who make it to Round 2 will receive a certificate and feedback on how their ideas can be revised and prepared for execution in the real world. The highest-performing student in STEMletics will receive a gift card and a certificate commemorating their success as award-winner. Students from Grades 5 to 8 are welcome to participate and may sign-up via this link.
STEMventure:
STEMpathize will be hosting a virtual contest called STEMventure on Saturday, July 27. This is an amazing opportunity for students to engage in friendly competition and gain knowledge in building hands-on STEM projects. We hope to empower youth in realizing that STEM is everywhere — at home and at any hour.
We are seeking participants from Grades 3 to 5 and encourage students from any location to register. Students can sign-up through this link. Registration will be limited to the first 50 sign ups.
During the contest, participants will use materials in their homes to build STEM projects in the span of 45 minutes. The challenge is open-ended, and participants are encouraged to be creative and plan ahead. An online resource with examples of projects will be provided to assist participants prior to the event. We have an exciting panel of judges of high-achieving high-school students who will be selecting the most impressive submission. Projects will be evaluated based on creativity and innovation in utilizing at-home materials. The selected winner will receive a $25 gift card of choice and a Resourceful Innovation Award from STEMpathize. In addition, the selected winner will receive a free advice column on study skills, interest exploration, and goal setting with high school leaders at STEMpathize.
To ensure safety, we require that participants adhere to contest guidelines. Participants should avoid the use of hazardous materials or tools that require adult supervision. Additionally, students must work on their projects individually and showcase the building of their projects on camera.
STEMnovation:
STEMnovation provides students with the opportunity to participate in a variety of STEM activities, either in person or from the comfort of their own homes. STEMnovation guides students through a series of simple projects using materials that can be found around the home. In addition, STEMnovation hosts a workshop that guides students through each project. For those unable to attend in person, an online resource is available, allowing students to participate at their own pace from home.
STEM Showcase:
STEMpathize will be hosting a STEM showcase, Show your STEMergy, that will demonstrate the recent advancements and innovations in the technological field. This is specifically tailored to young elementary and middle school students. Students can bring one other adult or guardian to help guide them through the event and get more hands-on experience. The event will showcase a wide variety of events that your kid will be able to get more immersive experiences into the world of tech. There will be various workshops with technology companies, research institutions, and organizations to collaborate on exhibits, workshops, and demonstrations. More specifically, STEMpathize will bring the unique experience of incorporating interactive experiences, such as virtual reality simulations, robotics demonstrations, and more. This will also give a great opportunity to facilitate and provide networking opportunities between participants, industry professionals, and technology enthusiasts. Students and their respective guardians can sign up through this link.
