march programs

We are hosting two programs in March 2022: Intro to Physics for grades 3-4 and Intro to Computer Science for 5-6.

 

Each workshop consists of lessons and hands-on activities (i.e. science experiments) for students to participate in. As a result, students are required to provide their own materials that will be used during the workshops.

 

Below is more information about each program. You may find the required materials for each workshop below as well.

Intro to Physics
Grades 3-4
Saturdays, 11-12 PM PST/1-2 PM CST/2-3 PM EST
The DEADLINE to register for the March Workshops is March 1st, 2022. Expect to hear a reply from us confirming that your student has registered within a week of submission.

1. The Forces that Keep you from flying

March 5th

Materials: 1 piece of paper, Pencil

2. Diving into Density!

March 12th

Materials: ⅓ cup of oil, ⅓ cup of water, ⅓ cup of dish soap, 2 colors of food coloring, 3 clear plastic cups, Cotton Ball, Eraser, Snickers Bar

3. Everyday Electricity

March 19th

Materials: Balloon, Pen, Faucet, Paper, 2-3 alligator clip wires, Small LED lights, Cup of water, 4-5 pennies, Duct tape

4. Brush up on Buoyancy!

March 26th

Materials: Orange, Glass of water,  Aluminum foil,  Tub of water (large bowl or bucket),  Bag of coins

Intro to Computer Science
Grades 5-6

1. Complex Volumes

March 5th

Materials: 1 protractor,1 ruler, 1 piece of paper, 1 simple calculator, A handful of identical rectangular pieces of lego

2. Intro to Probability

March 12th

Materials: One deck of playing cards, Paper (2-3 sheets), Pencil, Two dice

3. Safety Nets

March 19th

Materials: Paper, Ruler, Pencil, Eraser

 

Optional: cardboard or construction paper for more stability in structure

4. 3D Shapes Investigation

March 26th

Materials: Print-outs of a provided PDF, Ruler, Pencil, Scratch paper, Scissors, 3 containers of different shapes and sizes, Measuring cups, Water
